Range Rules 2024
This range safety rule is probably the most important rule we can emphasize for several reasons.
FIRST, it involves the movement of loaded firearms throughout the building other than on the shooting range.
SECOND, this rule is a "ZERO TOLERANCE RULE" and violation of this rule will result in the TERMINATION of your membership.
All of our other range safety rules are based on the concept that all loaded guns are handled ONLY on one of the shooting range firing lines, with the weapon pointed in a safe, downrange direction.
Concealed carry and open carry result in loaded firearms being potentially carried in all areas of the facility. This requires careful and special consideration in order to allow this freedom of movement and to make it safe.
If you enter the facility carrying a loaded and holstered weapon, IT MUST REMAIN IN THE HOLSTER EXCEPT OR UNLESS YOU REMOVE THAT WEAPON ON ONE OF THE EXISTING SHOOTING RANGE FIRING LINES UNDER THE CONDITIONS PRESCRIBED FOR SAFETY FOR THOSE LOCATIONS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE IS IF YOU LEGITIMATELY REMOVE THE WEAPON TO DEFEND YOURSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE, AND YOU HAD BETTER BE SURE OF THAT NEED. IF YOU REMOVE THE LOADED WEAPON FROM ITS HOLSTER UNDER ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS FORFEITED.
If you need to empty the weapon, go to a range, and do it safely. If someone wants to see your firearm or you wish to show it to an employee, go to a range and do it safely. The purpose of this rule is in line with all other range safety rules that require the handling of loaded weapons on a firing line in a safe direction. This rule simply cannot be safely followed anywhere in the facility except on one of the firing lines. In addition, the following safety rules apply to all members and guest:
- EDK Training Center and Services staff reserves the right of refusal.
- All firearms for range use must be unloaded and cased when entering and exiting the facility.
- No uncased firearms are permitted outside the shooting lane. All firearms on the lane must be always pointed down range.
- Hearing and eye protection must be worn at all times within the range.
- EDK Training Center and Services staff reserves the right of refusal.
- You must be at least 18 years of age to use the range. If you are under 18, you must be with a parent or legal guardian who has a valid FOID card, or your parent or guardian must be accompanied by someone who has a valid FOID card and are over the age of 21.
- No person under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or who are developmentally disabled, or who are felons, are allowed to use the range.
- No food or drink is allowed in the range area.
- EDK Training Center and Services staff reserves the right of refusal.
- No rapid firing.
- Shoot at your targets only – not the range fixtures, equipment, the walls, the floor, the ceiling, or other people’s target. Repeated shots at our equipment will result in the revocation of your range time without a refund. Consistent warnings will result in the termination of your membership.
- You may collect your spent cartridge casings when safe to do so.
- For any scheduled shooting event at the range, a range safety officer must be present.
